SF Mission
The United States Army Special Forces have five primary missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action, and counter-terrorism. They may be assigned other tasks as needed.
The original, and still the primary mission of Special Forces is to train and lead indigenous forces, or a clandestine guerrilla force in an occupied nation in Unconventional Warfare.SF acquired the additional mission of Foreign Internal Defense, working with a host nation in Counter Insurgency.
Special Forces personnel qualify both in advanced military skills and the regional languages and cultures of defined parts of the world. Special Forces personnel have the training to carry out covert DA, and other missions, including covert reconnaissance.
Special Forces is organized around a twelve man team that is interdependent with members trained in military operations and intelligence, weapons, engineers, and medicine. Each team member also cross-trains in at least two other specialties besides the one in which he’s expert.
Special Forces soldiers are trained in the languages, customs and culture of the general are to which their team is assigned. They are masters at organizing, training, and leading indigenous forces, at any scale.
